SCMEA is a division of RMK Business Consulting, which has been in operation since 2001.


René Kling

The founder and General Manager of SCMEA, René has extensive experience within the procurement and supply chain fields, having worked for organisations as diverse as Mobil Oil, Ford Motor Company, Local Government and Management Consulting, in addition to a range of smaller import and distribution companies. Positions have included Purchasing Manager, Supply Manager, National Logistics Manager and Senior Management Consultant.

René is a past Queensland Chair for the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Australia, in 2009 was made a Fellow of the Institute and for the past three years René has been a judge for the annual CIPSA Awards. René also holds memberships in a number of other organisations, including the Australian Institute of Management, the Supply Chain and Logistics Association of Australia and the Australian Institute of Training and Development.

Qualifications include a Master of Business in Logistics Management, an MBA and a Master of E-Commerce, and he is currently completing a Doctor of Education. René also lectures in Strategic Management, Logistics Management, Quality Management and Purchasing and Materials Management for Central Queensland University on a sessional basis.

René's qualifications include a Master of Law (LLM) in Public Procurement Law and Policy, a Master of Business in Logistics Management, an MBA and a Master of E-Commerce. René has lectured in Strategic Management, Logistics Management, Quality Management and Purchasing and Materials Management for Central Queensland University on a sessional basis.

René specialises in assisting organisations achieve process improvements, and has published articles in the Australian Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management (AIPMM) magazine 'Australian Purchasing and Supply'. He has also contributed two chapters to the AIPMM textbook 'Supply Chain Management: A Procurement Perspective'.

René has presented papers and sessions at many conferences on a range of topics, including the Procurement Summit, the APICS International Conference in 2004 and 2006 and the AITD National Conference in 2004. In recent years René has made a number of presentations at the International Public Procurement Conference (IPPC) in Amsterdam (papers accepted for San Diego and Seattle), as well as the International Purchasing and Supply Education and Research Association (IPSERA) conferences in Bath, Maastricht and Naples.



Ray Sanderson

Ray has extensive experience in management and training. Ray served for over 20 years as an officer in the RAAF, firstly in an operational role and later in project management duties related to a number of major Defence equipment acquisitions. He has worked in four Commonwealth government agencies in procurement roles as well as two local governments, most recently as the Senior Procurement Officer in Toowoomba Regional Council.

Ray has private industry experience as a senior contracts administrator with the Boeing Company, as well as small business ownership experience. Ray has formal qualifications in management, government procurement, training and assessment and project management.



John McCleland

John has over 25 years experience in procurement and has worked extensively across numerous industry sectors, including as Divisional Director - Procurement for one of the largest generic pharmaceutical companies in the Southern Hemisphere. In addition to offering consulting services in procurement, John provides a range of training assignments on behalf of SCMEA and other clients, including delivering the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) qualifications in Papua New Guinea and training for a range of private and government entities. John has trained in numerous countries, including South Africa, Australia and the Asia Pacific region.

John holds qualifications in Business Management, Purchasing Management and Training and Assessment.
