René Kling
The founder and General Manager of SCMEA, René Kling, has extensive experience within the procurement and supply chain fields, having worked for organisations as diverse as Mobil Oil, Ford Motor Company, Local Government and Management Consulting, in addition to a range of smaller import and distribution companies. Positions have included Purchasing Manager, Supply Manager, National Logistics Manager and Senior Management Consultant.
René is the immediate past Queensland Chair for the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Australia (MCIPS qualification), and holds memberships in a number of other organisations, including the Australian Institute of Management, the Logistics Association of Australia and the Australian Institute of Training and Development.
Qualifications include a Master of Business in Logistics Management, an MBA and a Master of E-Commerce, and he is currently completing a Doctor of Education. René also lectures in Strategic Management, Logistics Management, Quality Management and Purchasing and Materials Management for Central Queensland University on a sessional basis.
René specialises in assisting organisations achieve process improvements, and has published articles in the Australian Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management (AIPMM) magazine ‘Australian Purchasing and Supply’. He has also contributed two chapters to the new AIPMM textbook “Supply Chain Management: A Procurement Perspective”, which replaced the previous editions entitled “Purchasing and Supply for Australia”, first published in 1980 and has been an indispensable guide to the Purchasing and Supply sector. René has presented papers and sessions at many conferences on a range of topics, including the Procurement Summit, the APICS International Conference in 2004 and 2006 and the AITD National Conference in 2004. In 2006, René was invited to present a paper at the International Purchasing and Supply Education and Research Association (IPSERA) conference in San Diego.
Wayne Hunter
Wayne is a sessional trainer with SCMEA, including presenting the CPM program and is currently employed with Golden Circle as Strategic Sourcing Manager. He is responsible for procurement within Golden Circle including both direct spend areas for packaging and raw materials and also indirect spend areas including MRO, Services, Freight and Vehicle Fleet Management.
Wayne was previously employed for 10 years in a variety of Procurement Management and general Planning and Supply Chain Management positions with Goodman Fielder in both New Zealand and Australia, including working directly with companies such as Uncle Tobys, Bluebird Foods, Meadow Lea and Pampas.
Prior to joining Goodman Fielder, Wayne was employed for 10 years with Australian Unity FS in Melbourne in a variety of Commercial Management roles, including management of the total Purchasing function as well Commercial Property Leasing and Management including building refurbishment and shop fit-out projects.
As well as being a member of CIPSA Wayne is also a Member of the LAA and APICS and holds tertiary qualifications via the University of Auckland in Operations Management and through APICS (CPIM). Several years ago Wayne wrote a Supply Chain paper which was included as a case study in the course materials of a Supply Chain Management Course at University of Auckland.
